CONTROLS EXPERTISE

ALVANCE Alumina Reclaim System

Smarter control and weighing systems

We’re proud to have brought our controls expertise to a major upgrade project with ALVANCE British Aluminium at their Ship Unloading and Rail Loading Facility in Blyth.

About the ALVANCE Alumina Reclaim System

The £500,000 investment has modernised the Alumina Reclaim System, strengthened infrastructure and introduced smarter control and weighing systems – all helping to futureproof the transport chain between Blyth and Fort William.

In the Summer of 2025, ALVANCE British Aluminium completed a £500,000 upgrade to the alumina reclaim system at their Ship Unloading and Rail Loading Facility at Blyth.

Our expertise

The Impulse Group’s team of experts worked alongside project partners to upgrade the loading electrical and control systems.

The project is part of a wider multi-million-pound investment to introduce the new JPA rail wagons and modernise the full transport chain between Blyth and Fort William. It involved replacing the full rail loading system, installing new electrical and control equipment, introducing a TrackCell weighing system and strengthening the underground structure to support higher loads.
