Our Founder and MD, Chris Spraggon, has over 20 years’ experience within the energy sector, specifically the SURF environment and is an expert in flexibles.
A leader in his field, Chris has advised clients on some of the most challenging offshore and flexible pipe projects globally and has written numerous publications on integrity management.
As the founder and driving force behind The Impulse Group, Chris has spent the past decade building the business into a respected engineering partner across the offshore energy sector.
Chris is a recognised specialist in flexible pipe systems and subsea asset integrity. With more than 20 years’ experience across the global energy sector. He has built a strong reputation for combining deep technical expertise with practical engineering insight, helping operators understand and manage the risks, behaviour and long-term performance of critical subsea infrastructure.
Global project advisory
His career has been closely tied to the Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (SURF) environment, where flexible pipes play a vital role in connecting subsea production systems to surface facilities. Over the years, Chris has advised clients on some of the most technically challenging offshore projects around the world, providing guidance on integrity management, life extension strategies, failure investigation and risk mitigation. His ability to translate complex engineering challenges into clear, actionable decisions has made him a trusted advisor to operators, contractors and engineering teams working in demanding offshore environments.
Chris is also widely recognised as a thought leader in flexible pipe integrity and subsea asset management. He has authored numerous technical publications and industry insights focused on improving asset understanding and reducing operational risk. Much of his work centres on bridging the gap between engineering design assumptions and real operational behaviour — an area that has become increasingly important as offshore infrastructure ages and energy systems grow more complex.
